Makeup Monday – Catch Up Review

Marvelous Monday my Makeup loving friends! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I got my October BoxyCharm box this weekend and I can’t wait to share with you what I got. But first, I have to finish my reviews for the September box. This is going to be a bit of a long post and I apologize.

I’m going to start with the Violet Voss – Essentials Eyeshadow Palette. I was not super excited about this palette. I am a much more neutral kind of gal. I did attempt a look and wanted to share it with you though.

It was not bad but it was hard for me to work with the colors. I am going to continue to try. Now that fall is here I’m hoping the purple and the orange shades will come in handy. The colors were all very pigmented and long lasting on my eyes. The palette itself I would give πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β out of 5 review but for me personally this is a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„.

Since I just discussed eyeshadow I should mention my review for the MODA – 5-pc Brush Kit.

I really liked these brushes. I have not used them as much as I would like to. I will say though they are soft and fluffy. I have had some brushes that were scratchy on my eyelids lately and these definitely were not. I also am just getting used to using a fluffy brush for my crease and I really liked how this brush worked. They are all marked with what they should be used for and I like that. It helped me try new brushes in new areas. Do you ever get stuck in a routine for brushes and wonder if maybe there is a better tool out there you haven’t tried yet. I feel like these brushes were a better tool and I am glad IΒ  tried. I plan to continue to use them and try to get some of their face brushes as well.

I am going to give these a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β of 5. Highly recommend giving them a try!

Next up we have MAC – Frost Lipstick CB96. Well folks, partly I am too old for frosty lipsticks and secondly this color was not meant for me.

I might try it again with a much more subtle makeup look and let this be the only pop of color. It is definitely a pretty shade. The pigment was very real. The color stayed on my lips all day but it also got on everything else along the way. My poor water bottle may never be the same. The lipstick was however the soft moisturizing feel that you will almost always find with MAC. I do wish it was a more flattering shade but like I said, perhaps if I get a tan or do a more subtle makeup I could make it better. As a product I’m giving this a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β out of 5 but for me and my skin tone, I am giving this a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β out of 5.

Finally, I am going to tell you all about the Laura Geller – Baked Gellato Swirl Illuminator.

This was probably my favorite item out of the box and with a $26 price tag, this makes the box a success in my book. The texture is very soft. Goes on powdery but does feel like a velvety cream. The glow is just so soft and perfect for an all the time use. I have used this every day since the first day I tried it and I can say this will be my go-to until I run out or until I get a new one I have to try through BoxyCharm! I love a little highlighter. This is also gentle enough you could use it all over to add just a little bit of glow to your face. I think you will agree if you give it a try. This product is definitely a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β out of 5 for me. Laura Geller has some great products and I hope I get some more in future boxes.

Overall, September’s box is going to be a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β and a half πŸ’„Β for me. I think I had some products that were not so great but I had some products that were great. Do you subscribe? Have you thought about subscribing? Are there other products you would be interested in me reviewing? Let me know!

Makeup Monday Review – Dr. Brandt Hidro Biotic

Marvelous Monday Makeup Fans,

I have been going and going lately. It’s been so busy. I have, however, been using this product for the week.

This was one of the products that I was most excited about from my September BoxyCharm box. The smell is very mild. To me this is a similar smell to other gel type moisturizers.

You only need to use a very small amount for your entire face. It feels very soft and refreshing when I apply it. I will say when I wake up in the morning my face feels slightly sticky which is not a real big deal.

After using this product for about a week and a half I will say it’s a good moisturizer but I don’t really see any major difference in my face. I can’t justify spending $52 for this product. I am going to continue using it and I will update this post when the bottle is gone. For now I’m going to give this a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„ out of 5. It’s not bad but the cost is far too rich for me!

Love and πŸ’„,

Becky

Makeup Monday – Steve Laurent Lip Pencil

Marvelous Monday all!

I am currently traveling for work so forgive me any typos in the blog this week! So much to do and never enough time. Am I right? I know, I know get to the makeup!

I think I mentioned when I got my Boxy Charm box that this was one of the items I was least excited about.

It’s not that I have anything against the brand. I have never actually tried the brand. I just moved away from lip pencils around 2000 unless I am wearing a red lip look and I’m worried about it bleeding through above my lips. So while I wasn’t excited, I did try it. Here’s proof:

Another funny story, I put my lips on after I get to work! What can I say, I like to kiss my husband so my look is never fully finished until I get to the office.

As you can see from the pic the pencils went on very smooth. The formula did not try out my lips. I’m not sure it really helped my lip look but it was ok to use.

The lip pencil is in my lip bag and it will stay there. I will continue to use it when I use nude shades.

I’m going to give this πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„ out of 5. It’s a good product I just don’t use it often. Sorry I couldn’t give a better review friends. Next week we are going to talk about some fun shadows!

Makeup Monday – Butter London Palette and Ofra Liquid Lip

Marvelous Monday my makeup loving friends. I hope you all had a fabulous weekend. I spent too much time in the yard on Saturday. I’m still dehydrated and recovering. Enough about that, what we really want to talk about is makeup, am I right? As per usual, I am going to review some items from my monthly BoxyCharm box. You can check out what all was included in my July box, as well as the pricing for the items reviewed today by following the linkΒ here.

First, today we are going to talk about the Butter London Palette Natural Goddess.

This is a very pretty palette. I like the natural andΒ  earthy undertones. When I look at this palette, I think of the earth. The brown, green and blue shades make me think of the earth and water.

I tried to do a swatch test for you, but I am still new at the whole swatching thing and I don’t ever want to ruin a pretty pot of eyeshadow for a swatch on my arm. I am afraid they came out a little light but here is an idea of the shades against my very pale arm.

The green was probably was my favorite surprise of all of the shades. It was more neutral and pretty then any of the shades honestly. The brown as a matte shade was probably intended to be a good blendable shade but I really struggled with it guys. I believe I need to work on my blending skills so I am not going to totally blame the shadow. Here are some pics with the shades actually for looks throughout the weeks I have tried this palette.

I had a hard time with pics for this post. My makeup in the morning just never wanted to play along. I did not feel like I could make as many complete looks as I would have liked with this palette. It had too many shimmer shades and not enough mattes to really create full looks. I will continue to use this as a supplement to other pallets for little pops of great earthy tones.

The palette for me, based on the fact that the shades are pretty but not super pigmented, it is really not a stand alone palette and the blendability is questionable, I am going to rate this πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β out of 5.

I also have been using the Ofra Liquid Lip in shade Santorini.

The formula went on so smooth and pretty. I really loved the feel on my lips. The scent was not noteworthy in a good or bad way. It was almost non-existent. This was considered to be a long lasting liquid lippy so I wanted to see how it would do. This shade was very bright pink which is not something I normally wear. I will be honest, I have not worn this as many days as I would have liked but I did remember to do a beginning of the day and an end of the day pic without reapplying so that could see how long lasting it really wears.

As you can see from the pics above it is a really pretty shade. However, short of a slight stained pink on my lips at the end of the day, it didn’t really last that long. Reapplication after lunch, etc. would definitely be necessary. I did really like that it did not leave my lips feeling extremely dry. I would say that this is a pretty good liquid lipstick. The shade is really beautiful, I should probably be more open to the bright colors.

Long lasting leaves a bit to be lacking but the shade and overall feel of this product is excellent. I’m going to give a good feel a higher score over the pain of having to re-apply and give this product πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„Β out of 5.

Hope you enjoyed this review. Let me know if there are other products you would like me to try that are not associated with my BoxyCharm box each month.

Love and πŸ’„,

Becky

Makeup Monday Review – Tarte – Be You, Naturally, Eyeshadow Palette

Happy Monday my makeup loving friends! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

This past week I tried a different eye look with the Tarte pallet from my Boxy Charm box for June. This was my first use of a Tarte palette ever! For a little reminder of the palette here is a pic!

Here are some pics!

So here is my review. First the palette smelled like chocolate. This was awesome every morning! I really didn’t think I would like that type of smell each morning but it was fantastic. The shades were all neutral enough to be used by any skin type. The shimmers were gorgeous.

I didn’t use any other shadows to complete my looks. I purposely limited myself to this palette only. The only complaint was that the deep brown shade did not blend as well as I would have liked. You can tell by my photos I struggled. I will say however the overall looks were great! I’m excited to keep using this in conjunction with some other shades that I use often to create some really great looks!

Here’s one of my favorite makeup looks from the week!

The sad thing about being a glasses wearer is that your eye looks aren’t as prominent sometimes but hey it was a good makeup day.

Overall this palette gets a πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„ out of 5 rating.

Have you tried other Tarte eye palettes? What are your thoughts on the brand?

Love and πŸ’„

Makeup Monday – Review No Pore Blem

Happy Monday my makeup loves! Today we are talking about No Pore Blem Prime Essence by Touch In Sol.

I received this product in my June Boxy Charm box. You can check out that post here Makeup Monday. I decided to use this primer for a full week and see what I really thought about it. The first time I used it I realized it was very thin. It runs down your face and is almost watery.

A watery formula in a primer doesn’t worry me too much so we moved forward with trying it. There is no scent really to this primer which I appreciate. Sometimes I find scent after scent building up on my face can be annoying!

The real question is was there a reduction pores? I couldn’t notice friends I’m sorry to say. I don’t think my pores are that large but I really didn’t notice a difference. As far as priming my face and helping my makeup stay on I would say there was definitely a proper wear time. Here is a beginning of the day pic:

Here is the end of the day pic:

I should have taken another pic before I headed for bed but it was a long work day sorry friends.

Overall this was a decent primer. I did not feel like it made my pores smaller and it definitely is not moisturizing in any way but it did help my makeup stay on longer and look fresher longer throughout the day, then many other primers I have tried.

Here is a link to more information if you would like to purchase this product. Purchase Item Here

Overall at a price tag of $22, for me, there are better primers out there. This wasn’t terrible so with our newly created lipstick scale we are going to give this 3 out of 5 lipsticks πŸ’„πŸ’„πŸ’„.

If you have tried this product let me know. I would love to hear from you! Until next time my friends you are beautiful inside and out!

Love and πŸ’„,

Becky

Makeup Monday

For my birthday my amazing hubby got me a subscription to a new makeup subscription, Boxy Charm. This subscription is $21 per month and you receive 4-5 full size products per month. The value according to other reviewers and the BoxyCharm website is going to be at least $100 per month.

This is my June box!

My goal is to review each of these products over the next few weeks. I think using them for more than one use will give you a better idea of what you are getting with this subscription. Below I have listed all of the items I have received with their MSRP and the total value of the box.

Tarte – Be You, Naturally, Eyeshadow Palette – MSRP $36

Touch In Sol – No Poreblem Prime Essence – MSRP $23

Dominique Cosmetics – Lemonade Lipgloss MSRP $17

St. Tropez – Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mousse MSRP $24.50

Dirty Little Secret – Lip Liner MSRP $15

Total box MSRP = $115.50

Overall I was very excited about the box. The brands are familiar and higher end than I normally buy myself. I can tell you I am most excited about the eyeshadow pallet from Tarte cosmetics. I am least excited about the self tanner because it is not something I use but for you, my dear readers, I’m gonna try it and give it an honest review!

Stay tuned next Monday for the first product review.
