Wedding Wednesday Ceremony Deets

I wish I could describe walking down the aisle but there are literally no words. I can tell you I had only string quartet music playing because I selected specific music for every part of the ceremony and our DJ did an amazing job with it. I can tell you that my son walked me down the aisle and that not tripping over my dress was honestly a concern. That thing was huge! I was a big ivory cupcake! I remember catching my grooms eye and nothing else in the world mattered. The ceremony was traditional and short. The ceremony was officiated by a friend of my husband’s.  We didn’t write our own vows or anything like that. Just the normal love honor cherish till death do us part kinda thing. The ceremony was a little chilly so we handed out the wedding favor of throw blankets early to keep everyone warm and they were a grand hit. And now here are some pics! I hope you enjoy. I’m also including a link to two of the songs used for the ceremony. My groom entrance and then of course my entrance! It was definitely one of the most amazing moments of my life. I got so emotional but I made it through without crying barely.

Happy wedding planning etc my loves!

It’s the final countdown

We actually have a long countdown. But I wanted to write about your excitement for your wedding versus everyone else’s excitement for your wedding.

My fiancé bought me this adorable sign and I really love it. We are so close to 100 days and then it will be 60 then 30 and then 1 lol! It’s amazing and exciting and scary and stressful all at the same time. We got engaged almost 18 months before our wedding date. It was a long way off and we did that on purpose. We had plans and wanted to save for the special wedding we both had always wanted. We wanted to share the experience with friends and family and we both wanted to be as involved as possible with decision making. So we were so excited. And others were excited too. But we have had to wait for a very long time. And some of our friends already think we are married. So as we get closer now I’m getting really excited and I want to share that excitement with my friends and family. Since most of them have been on this journey with us the whole time there are some who are getting just as excited which makes it fun! But then there are others who just don’t really seem “into” it any more. This can maybe make me a little sad. But I’m trying to not let it bother me. Emotions tend to run higher and higher the closer you get to the big day. And since I’m a little “special” when it comes to my emotions this has been even more fun for my fiancé and family then perhaps most get to experience.

So my biggest piece of advice I could give would be to have fun and remember that this is fun and it’s about you and your partner and your special day to share your love. But if you find that some of your friends or family are over the excitement and maybe seem tired of hearing about it cut them some slack it is your wedding so the majority of excitement is yours and choosing a long engagement does come with its own unique set of circumstances. And even if they seem not as excited I have no doubt when your special day comes they will be on board and having a blast with you! So happy weddinging and as a warning if I can figure out how to put a countdown widget on this blog you better believe that I will!

Traveling Back in Time

I live outside of Nashville. It is a travel destination in itself. But what do we do when we want to go for a quick get away? Well many people in this area go to the Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg. We actually went for a family reunion of my fiancé’s family. It was so cool to meet these future family members!

Any who we had some solo time before the family picnic and I found an attraction that I just had to see and I even found a Groupon that got us a great discount. If you don’t groupon you are missing out people.

So I smiled my way and batted my eye lashes until I convinced my fiancé to go with me to the Titanic exhibit.

So the outside alone is amazing and honestly gave me goosebumps when we just approached it.

When you get in line (after paying of course) they give you, your boarding pass. You are assigned a real passenger or crew member on the Titanic. You might hear about your person’s story in the exhibit. Really a great way to personally connect with this historic tragedy. My passenger survived and sadly Todd’s did not.

The exhibit walks you through the creation and the hype of the Titanic on to the departure and of course the sinking. There is an audio tour and they have a youth version and an adult version. The youth version includes a scavenger hunt. Honestly I would have totally done the youth version but you know sometimes you have to be a grownup.

The stories that are included in the tour really connect you to this tragedy and the people that lived it. There is a pocket watch that stopped exactly 15 minutes after the ship went down. A stairwell showing you how the third class passengers lived and many died aboard the ship.

They have an exact replica of the staircase from the Titanic and again goosebumps people. We had our picture taken and yes I was suckered into the souvenir because well I’m a sucker for a souvenir.

If you are in the area I highly recommend that you check out this exhibit. There are so many personal and true artifacts from the actual Titanic and from the White Star Line in general. If you can tell from the pic I was beaming from ear to ear. This was one of the best museums I have ever visited. I wish there was more I could share with you and more pics I could show you. But they do not allow photos in the museum.

Let them eat cake

So one of the most fun parts of wedding planning and surprisingly one of the easiest has been choosing our cake.

So there are so many choices to make when it comes to the cake size and flavors being the most important. Classic white cake with different flavors in between the layers. How many layers do you need? Well these are all very serious questions. Here are some pics of cakes that I of course fell in love with!

And then the flavors!!! Oh my gosh the flavors:

Raspberry, lemon chiffon and banana cream were some that caught our attention right away!

And then of course there was our engagement cake. You may recognize this from a previous post.

This cake is the raspberry elegance from Publix supermarkets. Well we fell in love with this flavor. So now we had to choose design. Because this design is cute but not what we wanted for the wedding. So I was off to meet with a bakery specialist. Oh the choices.

Here are some that I liked! Which did I choose? Well you will have to wait until November to find out! But man it was fun!

I can say with all honesty every step of this process. Making choices and planning the day we both want has been so much fun for my fiancé and me! We have shared a vision and we are making it come to life.

Until next time!

Here come the dudes!

So because I did something special for the ladies, we of course wanted to do something special for the guys. This is what we came up with.

Cologne shaped like a cigar how awesome! And it actually smelled good!

Small bottles of booze finished out the boxes and of course all of the guys said yes!

We are so excited to have these guys with us on our day.

Remember guys may not ask for it or think of it but they like a special surprise too!

The Guy Behind the Blog

My amazing Man!

He humors me. Really in all things he goes along because it makes me happy and well I’m truly truly blessed! I wanted to join these lovely ladies Betsy and Laura Jean courtesy of my awesome friend Laurie in a monthly link up celebrating the men behind our blogs.  Because all of this greatness has support I assure you! So he played along with my request and these are his answers.

Would you rather have to wear your swimsuit to work or have to carry around a large beach umbrella open all day at work?

Large beach umbrella – I would hum the sound of music and quote the queen all day.

Would you rather play on an MLB team or get to tour with your favorite band all summer?

Not a huge music guy but to be with a band playing in a stadium with all those people watching would be amazing.

Would you rather go to the beach and forget your towel or go to the beach and forget your sunscreen?

Towel – I burn!

Would you rather take a week long vacation anywhere in the world or take a month long vacation but have to stay within 100 miles of home?

A month. A vacation is time away from work…the more time away, the better the vacation.

Would you rather get to have as much ice cream as you want this summer, but only be able to get vanilla or only get to have ice cream three times this summer, but you can have whatever flavors you want?

I would get unlimited vanilla and mix it with all the flavors I want. Ice cream hack!!

Is anyone else talking like the queen? And maybe thinking this guy has spent too much time getting mix-ins at culvers? Haha! Love my man!

Such a fun link up to start the long weekend. I hope you all have a great one and get to spend some great time with those you love.

Bring in the Girls

Once we were engaged and we had chose our venue, the next step was to chose who would stand beside us while we said I do to each other. It was easy for me to choose those girls that would stand beside me. My sister of course to be my Matron of Honor, three of my closest friends (seriously I have been friends with these girls since we were 12 years old), and then my new nieces would be my Junior Bridesmaid and my flower girl. Simple lineup huh? But how to ask. There is pin after pin on Pinterest of how to “ask” your girls or even the guys. I’ll do a post on how we did that later. Anyway, I had to come up with an idea and I came up with a plan but I needed my ever talented mother’s help. Here is the picture that lead to my inspiration.

I decided I wanted to do cookies and ask them in a really fun way. Here are the cookie cutters that I found online to make them.

We ordered the cookie cutters and my sweet amazing mother that can make anything said that she would help me. She found an amazing cookie recipe and the royal icing recipe so that she could make my vision come to life.

I purchased these awesome pens that allowed me to write on the royal icing and make it actually legible. So when the cookies were lined up they have the girls name and say “Jennifer Will You Be My” and then the dress is symbol for bridesmaid. And lastly the bell has the date of our wedding. We used the peach and grey that are our wedding colors. There will be another post talking about colors shortly.

I did the bells myself and I did all of the lettering. I did some of the piping on my heart with the girls’ names and my mommy did like everything else. I try to be a doer and I totally would have done all of this myself but well I’m not as talented as my mommy!

I wrote each girl a personal note about why I would like her to be my bridesmaid and how much she means to me And then I put the note on top and sealed up the boxes. Oh and the cookies were delicious by the way.

For my younger girls, I found a smaller box and “asked them to by my girls” with a ring pop and an official on one knee proposal. I’m lucky that everyone accepted and the fun is getting better and better. I’m so blessed to have my friends and family that want to share in this special experience with us.

No matter how you choose to ask those special people in your life to stand with you, just remember that it is supposed to be a fun time and when choosing those that are going to stand beside you, just pick those that will make sure that you have a fun time and enjoy the process.

Happy Weddinging.
